ATTENTION ALL ALUMNI!
TELE-JOB UPDATED, July 3, 2008

** If you move, get a new job, buy a new phone, or have any changes in your contact information, please contact BIM immediately.

Hey everyone! The updates have been pouring in! We have more Tele-job postings, and more alumni are contacting us to tell us what they are up to. The BIM alumni are growing stronger and larger, as the evening class just completed their oral exams and are now complete with their BIM classroom experience. It is now time for them to begin their job search, which is where all of us come into play. They will be looking at our Tele-job bank for job leads. Expect them to begin contacting all of us. There is a lot of talent, and enthusiasm in this class, they will do great!

Last week, the news of Terlia Shield’s, radio major, D1’08, car accident was posted. I would like to personally send out a special word to her and her family. I wish you well and the same to the rest of my class, as we are just beginning our new careers in the business.

One more quick note, we will be changing the scheduled updates to the beginning of the workweek. Now you will have special alumni updates to help cure your case of the Mondays.

Have a good 4th of July!

**News Flash!

Current day student, Valerie Knepp D2’08, has just gotten a new job doing overnights at WZBH, DE! You will never guess who hired her, Jason Winegrad, D1’98. That’s right, a BIMmer! “JW used to work for BIM and he’s stayed in contact which helped me get the heads up on the job.” Valerie says.

BIM recruits all year long! We sent out evening class student, Ron Seidl E2x4'09, to set up a booth at the Mediterranean Festival out in Hunt Valley. John Grote, Jr. E1’87 TV major, sent us an email letting us know that he met Mr. Seidl, and was thrilled to see BIM out there in full strength. “I am so glad to see that in all these years that students and alumni alike, still carry on the passion and love for our BIM.”

Alumni Updates

Jeffrey Vilkas E1’02 As we all know, getting into an accident on a motorcycle can be deadly. All that is protecting you is a helmet, and the clothes on your back. Jeff Vilkas, radio major from E1’02, was in a motorcycle accident with a tractor-trailer. He was sent to shock trauma and is in critical condition. He is in all of our thoughts and prayers.

Olukemi “Kemi” Olunloyo D1’03The internet is always buzzing with people sending and receiving emails, folks talking it up in chat rooms, music being downloaded, and you cannot forget the blogging craze. Olukemi “Kemi” Olunloyo, news major from the class of D1’03, has started to blog rock music on HIPHOSSIP, Canada’s leading Hip-Hop, R&B and Rock music blog. The technical definition of a blog is “ an online diary; a personal chronological log of thoughts published on a Web page.” She seems to be enjoying the Canadian lifestyle. She just celebrated her one-year anniversary of living there, “After living 24 years in the States, I REALLY LOVE Canada better!”

Karl Magenhofer D1’99 Wedding bells have rung for D1’99 news major, Karl Magenhofer! In March he was wed to a good ol’ Balmer girl. They both live in Virginia, where he is closing in on his ten-year anniversary as the news director at WSVA. He just completed his second go around as President of the Virginia Associated Press Broadcasters.

Adam Davis D1’04You can sure climb the ladder fast in this business! To go from graduating and only a few short years later, getting the promotion to Program Director and doing Middays, is something to brag about! Modest Adam Davis, radio major from D1’04, contacted us to help him spread the good news. He is lucky enough to be moving so fast.

Tom Layesman 242’07
A toast to Maryland’s Public TV Telefunder!  242’07 radio major, Tom Layesman, has crossed over to the television side of broadcasting. It is always great to hear of the BIM education not limiting one to just one thing.

Sheri Looney D3’95
The waves crashing against the sand, the smell of the fresh ocean water, the soft sea breeze brushing against your face, the palm trees swaying with the sound of the shore. So many lucky Floridians experience these delights on a daily basis.  Sheri Looney, radio major from D3’95, one of the newest residents of the sunshine state, contacted us to let her know how fortunate she is to have moved. She just moved south from Elkridge to be out with the sun and surf.

David Gunning Jr D2’03
Achieving your dreams is what BIM is all about and we love hearing about it when it happens.  A D2’03 radio major, David Gunning Jr., is living his dream of co-hosting a morning show in Frederick. The Key 103 Morning Show has now been added to his resume. He sure has come a long way from answering phones at 1300 WJFK-AM. He has taken his passion for music and his BIM education and created his dream lifestyle.

Brandon Renninger D2’02
The big L word… Lottery. According to the FCC, we broadcasters should have nothing to do with them. But Brandon Renninger, radio major D2’02, has made a job for himself with the Maryland State Lottery. He is now the Supervisor of the Telecell Department. He is also working security of NFL games during football season.

Kasia Kondracki- Price D1’99
Thank you notes go a long way in this fast paced world. We received a nice thank you from Kasia Kondracki, D1’99 radio. She is now a stay at home mommy, but is the Public Relations Officer for her church. She thanked us for giving her the knowledge of press releases, she now writes them! “I really used the experience of writing news stories and how news & radio staff get contacted & have to work with the community to my advantage.”

George Stover E1’70 A special thanks to Denny Schroeder, E1’72, for this update! Light! Camera! ACTION! A BIMmer on the silver screen. George Stover, E1’70 Hall of Honor member, was featured in the independent film, One-Eyed Horse. He played one of the citizens of Clark County.
